An Uncluttered Life

An Uncluttered Life

A few years back I started a blog I called "The Conflicted Minimalist." I was conflicted because I wanted peaceful, Zen surroundings, but was having a hard time figuring out just how to achieve it. Then there was all that stuff that I loved that I never used that really weighed me down. Do you see where I'm going with this one?

Spring and spring cleaning have inspired me to read a lot of books about becoming more organized, and one of the recurring themes is that a cluttered space can sometimes reflect more of your other issues. So, I'll make the leap from objects weighing me down to those nagging extra pounds that magically appeared over the endless winter. And it isn't the time of year to make resolutions, so instead I'd like to ease into a few new habits at the very least:

  • I'd like to reconnect with myself and my space and get rid of all of the clutter that depresses instead of inspires me.
  • I'd like to use that same energy to take on more healthy habits - eating more sparsely, or at the very least, more mindfully.
  • I'd also like to change my clothing habits. I have too much. I'd like to get back to basics a bit and see if this pared down lifestyle makes me feel a bit less overwhelmed by just about everything else.

How about you? Are you inspired to clean out your space and lifestyle? Let us know in the comments below.
