Thanks to daylight saving time, many of us will get an extra hour this Sunday, November 4. Not only does this extend the weekend (score!), but it also allows an extra window of time to do something you might not have had time for before. With endless possibilities, we want to share a few ways you can spend that extra hour:

Head Outside

Get out of the house for a brisk walk or run around the neighborhood this weekend and enjoy the changing leaves. Taking in the crisp fall air and getting your body moving can lighten your mood and clear your head as you prepare for the week ahead. Here are four more tips to stay fit during fall.

Cook Up Something Special

Enjoy your extra time by cooking or baking your favorite dish, trying a new recipe or even getting a head start on meals for the week. BowFlex Insider Contributor and Registered Dietician Erin Kuh shared how you can make your own freezable casseroles for when life gets crazy during the work week.

Catch Up on Your Favorite TV Shows

Behind on your favorite fall shows? This weekend gives you the perfect opportunity to get caught up! Set up in front of the TV as you walk on your BowFlex TreadClimber or complete a dumbbell workout, and you’ll have accomplished two tasks at once! If you finish your workout, but you still have time left during your show, try a few of our favorite bodyweight exercises for an extra workout boost.

Sleep In or Take a Guilt-free Nap

As time shifts while we sleep, many of us will take the opportunity to snuggle up and catch an extra hour of rest. Research shows over 35 percent of adults report getting less than the recommended eight hours of sleep per night, which can lead to health problems, including diabetes, and can put you at a higher risk of a heart attack or stroke. If an extra hour of sleep sounds just like what the doctor ordered, then fluff your pillow or find a comfy spot on the couch and catch some extra z’s this weekend.

Do Something Silly

When was the last time you let your hair down and really did something fun? On a day when time is plenty, spend a few moments singing and dancing around your house to music, building a pillow fort with your kids or being goofy with your friends — you deserve it.
