People seem to be more interested in health and fitness than ever before, but despite the growing conversation around making informed choices, we still struggle to grasp the fundamentals. A recent survey measuring basic health, fitness and nutrition knowledge found that both Americans and Europeans failed to make the fitness grade. Take the quiz below and see how you compare:
Americans and Europeans are Flunking Fitness
With an average score of 42 percent, Americans scored only slightly higher than Western Europeans, who scored an average of 39 percent.
The results were a little shocking. Both Americans and Europeans failed to grasp fundamental health concepts, such as the recommended calorie intake for adults or the definition of a functional fitness exercise. When it comes to our health and fitness smarts, there's still room for improvement. Take a closer look at the results:

About the survey: The Nautilus, Inc. survey, powered by Survey Sampling International, questioned 2,600 men and women ages 18 and older in May 2016 — including participants in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the U.K. and the U.S. The survey examined general consumer understanding of health, nutrition, and fitness topics.
