Fit Tip: Start Your Summer Body Workouts Now
It’s time. Time to get to work shedding the pounds and sculpting your body for summer. Please don’t make the mistake of waiting until the weather starts getting nice - Then it’s too late.
But you most likely know that already. Because, chances are, you made that mistake last year. And the year before. It’s an all-too-common cycle, and you are far from alone.
Unfortunately most people go into “hibernation mode” during the colder months and shorter days, moving less and eating more. All those well-intentioned New Year’s Resolution goals are usually a distant memory by now, and you are back to your same, familiar, comfortable routine. Before you know it you have gained, not lost, a few more pounds since the beginning of the year.
As the saying goes, summer bodies are made during the winter. It’s absolutely true. It takes a few months of consistent exercise and healthy eating to truly see meaningful results, and the winter is the perfect time to do just that. Making small, consistent changes in your diet, burning a few hundred extra calories most days and doing a few strength training workouts each week are all doable when you give yourself enough time.
That should come as great news. You don’t have to follow a restrictive fad diet or do long, boring cardio workouts when you give yourself sufficient time to achieve your goals. Chances are you’ve tried both of those methods before, and they didn’t work. Neither are sustainable long-term.
So ask yourself: Would you be happy starting the summer off having lost a significant amount of weight over the winter, down 10-20 pounds and with muscle definition? If you start today, that’s completely doable. It’s weight loss of roughly 1-2 pounds a week, which is a healthy and sustainable approach that doesn’t require an extreme diet or workout routine.
So please stop waiting until the last minute and then torturing yourself. That’s exponentially more difficult and frustrating than focusing on starting now. Make this the summer of your success.
