Bobbi's Story: From a Heart Monitor to Heart Healthy
At 29, Bobbi knew it was time to make a change. She was uncomfortable with her weight and stopped doing the activities she loved - like riding her husband's motorcycle. Just a year ago, she started having health issues and had to wear a heart monitor. She watched her health decline.
"Something didn't feel right… I thought it was a heart attack. I went to the doctor and he told me that the problem wasn't too severe yet, but that I had to change my lifestyle," recalled Bobbi. "That was a big eye opener for me. I couldn't just sit on my weight anymore."
Weight loss had been on Bobbi's mind for a while, but she never found the motivation to follow through. She got involved with baseball and made occasional trips to the gym, but doing it consistently was a challenge.
With her health declining and a growing concern about it affecting her husband and kids, Bobbi finally purchased a home fitness machine. She immediately began her routine on the BowFlex® TreadClimber® and began to see a life changing transformation.
Bobbi lost 54 pounds - but it gets even better than that. When her doctor was trying to diagnose her heart issues, he initially took her off caffeine. As she started losing weight, she slowly incorporated coffee back into her diet and had no issues.
Bobbi's heart problems vanished. As we reach the end of American Heart Month, it's important to remember the various building blocks that serve as our foundation of personal health.
"It was 100 percent the weight," Bobbie said. "Not only am I using the TreadClimber daily, but I've also started a 10k trail run and doing bootcamp classes with PRX. I also run every day and have a coach now who is helping me train for a 30k."
With this new sense of achievement, Bobbi began setting goals for herself, such as losing a pound a month or running a faster mile.
"It's honestly just about being in control of yourself," she said. "You have the power to have that control… It's not about having the time; it's about making the time."
